Water Repellent Fabric

BS EN ISO 20811: 1992 / ISO 811: 1981 – Hydrostatic pressure test

THS responds to customer demand by testing fabrics for various industries, including waterproof ratings. While our testing typically focuses on stringent fire standards, we also conduct unique water resistance tests to ensure our fabrics perform well in wet environments.

In the hydrostatic pressure test, fabrics are subjected to a column of water at a rate of 60 cm/H2O/min at 20°C. The test is repeated five times to obtain an average result. According to BSI standards, fabrics are classified as:

  • Water-resistant: 50 cm/H2O (Mbar) or higher
  • Waterproof: 150 cm/H2O (Mbar) or higher

THS has four certified fabrics, with three exceeding the criteria for waterproof classification:

  • Water-resistant to 101 cm/H2O (Mbar)
  • Waterproof to 492 cm/H2O (Mbar)
  • Waterproof to 1362 cm/H2O (Mbar)
  • Waterproof to 2000 cm/H2O (Mbar)
