Oil Resistant Fabric

BS EN ISO 14419: 2010 – Oil Repellence – Hydrocarbon Resistance Test

THS responds to customer demand by testing fabrics for use in specific industries, and has rolled out a comprehensive product testing program that includes oil repellency testing. While this testing is distinct from our usual fire standards, it ensures that when our fabrics are used in environments where oils are present, we can confidently predict their performance.

Oil Repellency Test

Oil repellency testing involves evaluating fabrics against eight different oils, with a rating scale from 0 (the worst performance) to 8 (the best performance):

  • 0 – fails White Mineral Oil
  • 1 – White Mineral Oil
  • 2 – 65:35 White Mineral Oil/N-Hexdecane
  • 3 – N-Hexdecane
  • 4 – N-Tetradecane
  • 5 – N-Dodecane
  • 6 – N-Decane
  • 7 – N-Octane
  • 8 – N-Heptane

THS have tested four fabrics for oil repellency, achieving the highest rated results.
