Treatments, Dispersions & Coatings

Once the base fabric is selected, the next step is choosing the finishes. This stage takes into account a wide range of factors, from exposure to high temperatures or direct flames, to chemical resistance, waterproofing, abrasion durability and even aesthetics. Each factor is carefully considered to ensure the final product performs as required, with a variety of ready-to-use options available.

Industrial fabrics are used in a surprising range of applications, from welding protection to supercar engines and everything in between. While the base fabric forms the foundation of the final product, it is the finish that truly defines its performance and sets it apart.

Laminations

Usually films or foils, including aluminium foil, PES (Melinex), stainless steel foil, and some forms of PTFE or Silicone rubber. Laminations provide additional barrier properties, thermal insulation, or chemical resistance.

Dispersions

These are generally encapsulating treatments using liquid mineral-based solutions that, once dried, provide complete fabric coverage. Dispersions can be applied to the whole fabric or to individual yarns prior to weaving, depending on the application.

Coatings

Typically polymers such as Silicone Rubber, Neoprene, PU, Acrylic, PTFE, Viton, Vamac, Hypalon, and many more. Coatings enhance the fabric’s protective qualities while maintaining flexibility and durability.

Specialist Adaptations

All treatments can be customised with specialist properties, including:

  • Anti-static or conductive surfaces (one or both sides)
  • Indicating pigments for chemical detection
  • Extreme chemical resistance
  • Cryogenic capabilities
